Does anyone have any first hand info about Sherwin Williams in Nevada? I have looked at the website but did not see any specific info like pay, benefits or time out on the road. I have 25 years under my belt with no tickets, accidents or log violations and have 3 1/2 years with my current OTR company. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think you're gone that long, since you need to get back and haul more paint. And their equipment looks pretty good. See them on 395 'tween Reno/395/14 jct a lot.

I have been employed at the Sierra distribution center for 8 years. For benefits and pay it's the best job in town. If you want to work hard, and run legal (electronic logs) this is the place. During the spring, summer, and fall expect 34 hours at the house. If you live in Reno, you might also get a night home every week or so. Like most trucking companies, there are issues with dispatch, but if you've been trucking any length of time you already know that. They have good equipment, and pay breakdown time if anything occurs. We run a lease through Penske, and can get repaired at any of their facilities. The trucks are 1/2 way through a 6 year lease. If interested, please respond in this forum. I will attempt to answer any further questions.

Hey dale, when you say 34 reset at the house is that for drivers residing in reno only? What about vegas residents? I also noticed ruan is hiring drivers out of reno pulling sw trailers, I believe those guys run back and forth all the way up to washington, do you know anything about how they operate? And how many states are in your territory now?

34 hr reset is for all drivers at their residence. I'm not sure they will hire a domiciled driver out of Las Vegas. You can always check though. We all (Ruan included) run 9 western states. These are, C.A., O.R., W.A., A.Z., U.T., W.Y.,N.V.,I.D., and M.T. I have a friend working for Ruan. They run the same areas as us, and the pay structure is different. The benefits are not as good. The pay, however, is comparable. We are currently looking for drivers, I heard this week that Ruan is looking for 2 drivers for us in the L.A. market. To apply with Sherwin Williams visit www.Sherwin.com/Sierra. Oh yeah, if you accept a dispatch and run out of your 70hrs on the road, shame on you. 34 hrs not at the house.

3dayhaul Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info! Few quick questions, those states you listed have some good sized hills, what's the average weight you're hauling on a load? Do they run e-logs, if yes do you have off-duty driving as an option(like an hour per day)?
-
Average weights are maximum, 40,000 and up to 44,000lbs. We have DD15 detroit motors with a ten speed. We can climb 6% grades at 30 to 35mph. We do have e-logs. Personal conveyance is allowed, but not more than 10 or 15miles, and not under a load. Remember, we are subject to hazmat rules. You must also have the endorsement. We do not always haul paint however. After store deliveries we haul anything. Paper rolls, packaged salt, recycled plastic, paint buckets, lumber, you name it, we backhaul it. This week I went to Billings, then Dillon M.T. to pick up bulk minerals, and then to Irvine C.A. to deliver. I'll get something out of L.A. right away and be home Friday am. Left out on Sunday morning. A 3,000 mile week.

Hey Dale, you still out there? I just happened to get a load out of the reno dc this week and I got to check out the facility first hand. The security was very tight, I had to provide my name, truck number and pu# before they opened the gate. My live load took about 2 hrs, 30 mins of it was waiting at the window to get my paperwork. There was some drama at the window cuz another driver had too much weight and he was on the phone with his broker, they were talking about getting stuff off. I liked the fact they had a scale onsite, my load was under 30k so I didn't have to use it. I spoke to a nice lady named Lisa at the window and she told me SW was currently looking for drivers. She tried to get Tom but he was not available, she did give me his business card and told me they would hire out of vegas. So before I seriously consider quitting my job I would like to get the whole picture cuz if I leave here I want to retire with my next company. Let me know if you can help.

Yes, keep calling Tom.
