I'm looking at getting into fuel hauling and I've heard Coastal is a good company to get your experience with. I did a search to get some more info but it was mostly a few years old, so if anyone has any current information that would be awesome. I will be driving in Tucson. Thanks in advance!

Towed their tankers a lot in San Diego. Drivers seemed content. They ran 2, 12 hour shifts. You will be sharing a tractor most likely. They paid $15 to load, $15 to unload and $.40/mile. Some guys could knock out 8-10 loads a day if they were dispatched correctly. Most guys left because the other tanker companies paid hourly. Coastal was always busy. If you're a hustler and use your hours, you can probably do pretty well. Seemed like the biggest hangup was wait times at the loading racks. Good luck

They are supposed to be big outside of CA, but here they are about as bad as you can get. All load pay no hourly or OT, can't even compete with most of the other fuel haulers in so cal. When they found out what the rest of us made while on the rack it hurt real bad.

I work for I work for them 10 years ago in Texas.

    Bad:
The maintenance was really bad. We had an excellent mechanic, but the company would never let him spend any money to order parts. Also, they would not tell you how pay was calculated - the stock answer was "locals pay $35, and it goes up from there once you leave town."

    Good:
We always had lots of work, and if you hustled, you would make good money.

I don't know if this helps or not but in Las Vegas NV they had 1 truck and we always had trouble getting payment for the load. I would see them once in awhile but nothing steady.
