    Hello,

I just graduated from a respectable truck driving school in Sacramento. I got my CDL-A in March. I have no driving experience yet.

    CDL-A
    Tanker
    Doubles
Automatic Transmission Restriction (The school’s only manual truck broke down for three weeks so I had to take my DMV road test in an automatic)

I’m looking for a regional position or even local or dedicated. Cannot do OTR at this time due to family needs.

Pros: I have no blemishes on my 10 yr driving history, criminal history, and credit report.

Cons: I retired from another industry in 9/2020. I decided I’m too young to be retired (54) I wanted to get back to work and drive a truck. So I have about 2 years currently being unemployed. Prior to that I’ve never had a gap in employment in my life. I’m a great employee and a very hard worker but not being employed for 2 years has already hurt me with one large trucking company (Swift).

Any advice or leads you could give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Try these to start with. They're probably hiring now. I don't vouch for either one and neither does TTR...they're just where a lot of guys get their first driving job.
Both companies have been around for a long time.

    @BloatedGoat --

I would submit...that your 2-year employment gap has not really hurt you--directly.

Your problem is probably more a result of current market conditions.

To clarify: freight volumes have recently shrunk; carriers thus (in general) have too much capacity--&...as a result...hiring criteria has tightened.

A while back--Schneider hired me on...even though I had substantial "gaps" in my "normal" employment history.

Your takeaway: don't be discouraged. Give the leads posted here an honest try. If none of them pan out, for whatever reasons--the Forum has a lot of experience; we will help you find a job.

FOOTNOTE: Try the other leads here FIRST; only go to Schneider as a last resort.

Call and ask about the FedEx run out of Sacramento.
    Hires new cdl school grads.
I'm guessing, but it's probably out, drop & hook and return.
