Thanks in advance,
As I continue my journey to become a better driver I realized I didn't know how to start a log book. Only ever having to use it for one week.
I wanted to be better with the log book so I'm going to log my next two weeks.
I am just coming off a 34 hour restart. And I copied the graph and hour directly from the qual com.
This maybe a longer thread than some of my others but I want to make sure I have it right.
So far I have two questions, the first is for line 7 hours worked yesterday; Do I add both the worked hours 00.27 and the drive hours 9.20?
And question two I will add a picture below. But this is day one back from a 34. But the hours do not equal 24 unless my math is wrong. I did use a couple mins of p.c to get out of the way. Did this not add into the 24 hour? It seems I'm missing 45 mins...![]()

Ok I did find the missing 45 mins. I needed to convert the mins to the log book mins of .25 .50 and .75.
For ease of learning I will now log every thing on the qual com in these same numeric patterns.Last edited: Sep 18, 2022

logbook does 15 minute increments where Qualcomm does by the minute.
also might want to write practice logging,or something to that effect, on logbook just in case you get inspected. dot mite consider it as 2 logbooks -
When you make a change to log book, don’t scratch out, a single line, then initial it.
Change of duty status, flag it in remarks, write city, state say DViR/Fuel load unload etc.
And yes, on duty and drive hours count together for hours worked for the day.
So tomorrow hours worked be 9.47
Where a log book would actually show like 9.5 hours.Keepforgettingmypassword and Last Call Thank this. -
I’m confused as to why you are doing two logs? That’s illegal....
Also, find a straight edge of some sort for making your lines so it’s neater, like a small ruler or something. I used to use an expired credit card.aussiejosh, tscottme and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
Just a side note
If using paper draw a straighter line
When I was audited after my first year under my authority the cop planned to be at our office for 4-5 hours
He was there 15 minutes as we had everything laid out and prepared
As he was walking out he tells me. Everything looks great and you won’t see me again unless there’s a wreck and btw maybe make your paper logs look like they weren’t done while driving -
People who say straighter lines should see mine (and may have been done while driving, lol). As long as it stays within the box I see nothing wrong with it.
I operate under the short haul exemption most of the time, usually only having to do a log about once a quarter.fordconvert, Bean Jr. and Kyle G. Thank this. -
Hammer166, aussiejosh, RefMata and 2 others Thank this.

Thanks. Going to write practice/ copy logs just in case.

But I do add the work on duty and driving on duty before I subtract from 70?
Hammer166 Thanks this.
