San Antone was a very nice place when I lived there back in the 70's (I did my army medic training there). The weather is weird. Can go from not a cloud in the sky to raining like hell in 15 mins, and then back to not a cloud in the sky 15 mins after that. As for trucking, getting through Austin was a royal pain a few years back (Austin was very nice when I lived there back in the 80s but that has changed).

Unless you plan to work nights, or not go north, I would suggest somewhere other than SA. Austin is that bad to get through. But I have a low threshold for stupidity...

I recently moved to Fort Worth and there are jobs O' plenty. Just hop on Indeed, and you'll receive many employment suggestions.

I lived in SA for over 20 years before moving down to Corpus. What kind of driving do you want to do?

Really just local, I have all endorsements. I’d prefer something that’s just long trips, but it seems like LTL is where the money is.

And NO state income tax. On the contrary side, property taxes can be harsh.

Long-trip local work, try for a linehaul gig with an LTL or foodservice carrier. UPS, Fedex, SMT, SAIA, R&L, Lange, Sysco, Sigma, Labatt, etc.

The dry bulk companies that haul cement and lime will have a combination of long and short trips. R&R, Star Bulk, Ingram Readymix, and Trimac's dry bulk outfit, I think it's called Quality Service Tank Lines or something similar.

You might also check into a transfer run with Texas Disposal Systems

And of course HEB and Walmart.

I'll add more as I think of them.

I want to say XPO has multiple openings in the SA area, P&D and Linehaul.
