My wife, our 2 children, and I are moving to Washington next month. We've settled on the Olympia area.
I'm a tanker driver. I have 1 year of experience. Of that 1 year, 8 months are doing tanker work. I started tanker with Schneider and have experience through them hauling hazmat like sulfuric acid. The position I'm leaving has me hauling motor oil, gear oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, methanol, diesel, and gasoline.
I scoured job search sites and gotten good results. Im in contact with a few companies who are aware of the relocation and willing to work with me. What I'm looking for here is those lesser known companies in the area who might not be advertising their need for drivers. Or maybe companies who aren't actively looking for a candidate, but would still hire.
I'm currently making $23/hr. OT after 40 and about 55-60 hrs a week. Over there I'd like to be between $25-$27/hr.
Any help or advice is appreciated.

L&E is great but I don't think they would hire someone that far south. APP went union a few years ago and they don't do much that goes over the mountains so if you're into hauling jet fuel I'd look them up.
Air Cooled Thanks this. -
Who is APP?

Actually by now they may have rebranded as WFS. Doesn't matter they're a fuel hauler. Keep in mind just because someone starts training doesn't automatically mean they're going to finish training. Seen a few people not make it through training let alone the probation period. Those 2 aren't KAG, they will expect a lot from you.

World Fuel Services? I've got feelers out to them.

You won’t make that money at L&E but they are a darn good group of people. I park next to them and some of the other local tanks.
Milky Way? Good outfit as well but I’d doubt you’d get paid that hourly wage there. I don’t have a great deal of knowledge about the west side though. I get paid the same as the Seattle drivers within my company and it’s a far lower cost of living once you get to the Idaho area.
