Advice.... Wwwwwaaaaayyyyyyyy more than 3k in the bank.

I have never dealt with them but there are a ton of horror stories on here about them. They tend to be the "I bought a truck and 2000 miles later the injectors went out and LM won't cover them" type stories.

Have plenty to cover a major breakdown. Take the truck before purchase to a reputable mechanic and have it gone over with a fine tooth comb. Have oil tested. Have it dynoed. Report any issues back to LM and have them fix it before you buy it. From what I've read, they tend to fix anything one finds.

For the amount of money you should have saved up after acquiring a used truck, you might as well try for a new one. Don’t buy someone else’s problem

I am on my 5th truck I have found the best deal as far as time left price ect. is trucks from 200000 to 400000 miles new trucks are in the shop more than those trucks ... lone Mt has a lot of fleet turnins so you don't know how it has been driven ( they have a lot of inexperience drivers or multiple drivers ) but most have a de cent maintenance program ... I like penske trucks because they have good maintainance and records on every thing. .... every body will tell you that you need 30000 in the bank before you buy a truck ...... bUT most all owner ops started on a shoe string and got lucky .... more $ the better but you can start out a little thin if you are disceplinned enough to save from the start . you really have to put the buisness and the truck first for a couple of years and it does pay off in the end

Lone mountain was ok. I finished one & they sent the title in the end just like agreed on. Your buying fleet owned emission trucks... that in itself says a lot... my only advice is to not be in a rush like you mentioned and really look everything over and etc

I bought my truck new from Lone Mountain and I’ve had zero problems with them. I send in my odometer reading once every 6 months and other than that they don’t contact me at all. Can’t speak to issues with used trucks or warranty work, but I highly recommend them if you’re interested in a new truck and factory warranty.

I too have had a great business experience with Lone Mtn. That is not to say the truck has been flawless, that is the truck not LM. In the end LM is a finance company not a shop, or truck manufacturer. I second SixShooter's sentiment, I would definitely go new not used. This is not a statement on LM but on my personal skills as mechanic and on the potential for costly repairs especially in todays world of egr/dpf/def scr engines.

How long is the warranty? I shied away from the 300k warranty they were offering on a new 780 with 60 months of payments.

It’s a factory warranty, not something through them. I’ve got a 2017 Cascadia with a 4 year/500k mile warranty. You can purchase an extended warranty if you want to.
