Works out to be roughly $100/round trip after fuel. I couldn't do it. At least not for long. Eventually something's going to break and the money won't be there for the repair. Welcome to bankruptcy.

I figured that. I dont understand what these people think when they set these load prices. They want their product as cheap as possible. Good luck finding somebody to deliver your load.

They'll find somebody. It's the free market at it's finest. Run Intermodal for a while you'll see it too. Lots of disposable trucks and the scourge of the earth driving them.

First off, how much weight on that sand? 15 ton on a 18 wheeler by volume maybe?

We used to earn by ton of rocks, sand etc in addition to a certain amount for the driving (Me, payroll, truck fuel and a markup)

Remember a smart business owner will not just charge for weight of cargo, they will charge for miles run, fuel and you the driver payroll for that load plus a markup.

Now if this is sand in a end dump for what? 200 dollars cash earned over a 140 mile trip that's done in 3 hours and dumped? That's not too bad. You can do three of those at least for a good day's work with a semi. Call it 600 dollars gross. 840 miles run midnight to midnight. Maybe even a thousand on 800 gross and 160 to 180 gone in fuel. That leaves you 620 to 640 net. If it's you driving your own truck. Otherwise at .50 a mile it's 500 dollars to the driver, 120 to 140 net to you. You are better off driving it yourself.

Anything else I might say just babbling. I don't know anything about the situation. If it is all charged 11 dollars a ton and nothing else is charged, miles run and fuel plus a markup etc then it's stupid and loses money.

People will not pay a dollar more than they have to. They might skip hiring you to haul that sand and find someone else to do it cheaper.

On a tri axle. What about 20 dollars a ton. Should I include 20 dollars a ton plus fuel and tolls or just a fuel surcharge

I'm tryin to figure out the math and equations on how to charge per ton. Fuel, fuel surcharge, tolls, and other fees. I know I'm new to this. Do you have a good equation into your price

I am the last person to ask. But let's work this problem.

How far are all of your customers. What is the average loading point to delivery?

I have more but let's look at your outfit what sort of work are we dealing with here? I don't care about the details like names of companies, just a ball park for distance loaded.

Ball park distance is 65 miles one way. Poster said 20 dollars a ton and the work is ongoing . So I assume it's more a long period of time . Truck would be a tri axle. I assume getting about 5.5 mpg. Load type. I assume dry materials dirt, sand, etc
