Ok, first off, Lily is not a bad company to work for. They use Ryder equipment and have a lot of contracts they haul for which will get you home frequently if not every day. they provided shirts, jackets and a reflective vest, paid you 30 bucks a month for your cell phone and the pay in general is nice. I signed on with them in Feb of this year. I was one of 15 drivers hired for a new contract in the Syracuse NY area. Upon my hiring, we were paid by hub miles and worked Mon - Friday. (.40cpm, $20 a stop, $10 d/h,) In the beginning I was bringing down about 1000 to 1100 gross a week. Then after a month, we were told we had to work 1 Saturday a month. Ok, I guess thats cool. Then later that week we were told we had to work a 0100 - 0500 shift Monday morning at least once a month. Ok, whatever. Then the next month we were told we are getting paid by PC Miler from now on. Ugh, OK, no more changes please. Then right after that, Lily ended a contract with another customer and they brought over the 4 drivers on that contract and put them senior to everyone that were hired for the Syracuse contract. Yeah, bumping all us down the seniority list. that is when I started to get a little upset as well as a lot of the other drivers, but, we stayed cool and kept running. Then we found out that some of these drivers started demanding the prime runs and they got it! My pay dropped within a months time to grossing 700 a week if I was lucky and I was not the only driver to lose money. slowly we all began getting days off due to a lack of work. I tried to read between the lines. I began applying to other companies. I was accepted at several of them and I resolved to pick one that would best suit my needs. Home time and Pay are key. Once I decided to take the position with a new company and gave my notice. The Regional manager begged me to stay and asked why I wanted to leave. I told him everything and he said he would fix it. Out of pure respect to the Regional manager, (who is a really good guy) I decided to stay and see what happens. My runs did improve as well did the runs the other original drivers were getting. But, slowly it started again. Well, today we were told to attend a drivers meeting at the end of the day. We were all told that Lily had lost the contract and we were done as of the 7th of July. (little over a week away) Needless to say the term "WTF?" entered my mind, and I actually did say that to the regional mngr, but in a joking way. I know it was not at the local level this contract was terminated, but corporate. I have decided to stay until the end and help them return all the equipment to the lessors and tie up all loose ends. I write this in this forum to notify anyone looking at a Lily contract position to please make sure when the contract is due to end and also try to talk to the current drivers on the contract. Or you could be shafted at the last minute. BTW - it was 30 days ago that corporate was struggling to keep the contract and no agreement could be made with the customer. It was not due to driver performance but plain old money. As usual.

Great informative post. Thanks. I'm sure not many would stay to the end. It speaks volumes about your character.

thanks. I pride myself in 2 things in life. 1. I have never sworn at my father in anger 2. I dedicated to a fault. Anyways, Update ::::::
Last week they made a mistake and shorted me about $250 in mileage and stop off pay. TOld me that it would be in this weeks paycheck. Informed today that that shortage (a complete run) is on hold in the computer and also another run I did last week is on hold also. Reason - Corporate has not run the pay for these runs because of a processing mistake. I have contacted the NYS Dept of Labor and I have been instructed to notify Lily that all money owed to me better be in my check like normal or a formal investigation will begin. They are now breaking the law. So, to be continued. I have notified Lily as of today. Currently zero'ing in on 2 companies. Going over to the flatbed division. Never have done flatbeds and I am looking at it as a change and a challenge. Mybe time to break away from the vans and reefers. Looking at TMC and Hoge Motor Carriers.

Update::: Informed yesterday that the pay owed to me from the previous check that was missing was not going to make it to this check. Contacted the NYS Labor board and informed them of my phone call and told them I am to have all monies owed to me in my check this week. I not only received money owed to me from a previious check, but also an additional run I was never paid for. Hmmmmm interesting. getting closer and waiting for an ok from a flatbed company. pray pray pray.....

I've had a chance to speak with a few TMC drivers that have stopped at NTTS. Every one of them has said the same thing, and that is TMC WILL PAY YOU. My only hang up with them is they seem to have a lack of pear shaped drivers in their fleet. My shape being this, it makes me wonder why they seem to be missing from the "family" photo's there. But, that being said, Good luck man. and Semper Fi.

FCW9 - First off - SEMPER FI Brother!!!! I have actually stumbled into a great welcoming company that pays excellent and is a small family owned biz. Hoge Motor Company out of Springville TN. After almost 20 years driving, I have never run across a company like this. Granted, I have not started yet, but, the atmosphere and welcoming attitude they conveyed to me is top notch. TMC did call me but I have to follow my gut feeling on this and I accepted HOGE's offer. The only down point so far I have is the bus ride to TN this sunday, but, that aside, I am really excited to begin running for them. They run covered wagons, Pete 379's and run aluminum coils mainly. Getting my "M" endorsement tomorrow (NY Required) Quality time at home (Friday afternoon - Monday am) weekly. I will be glad to get rolling with them. The situation at Lily has really deteriorated and it is getting worse. 2 more days and I am done.

ah yes the lovely coil BS. It's just one more thing NY state gets to get your money for. If you're in your truck and in the area before august 3rd, stop by the school, and say hey.

FCW9 - I am sorry I didnt get your invite until now. Been busy as all hell. I am in town every Friday - Monday. I actually applied for an instructor position at NTTS last Feb. I think I put the wrong home phone number down. (D'oh!) If you wanted me to swing in I can do so anytime Friday - Monday. Didnt think you would want me to stop in since they require 3yrs driving to hire on. Been on a mini vaca at home this week. I park her in the KMart lot off 57 and she looks so lonely sitting there by herself. ha ha ha .
