Tried removing this bolt today and it cracked soon as I started turning on it. It appears that entire stud the shock sits on now will need to be replaced? What is the correct way of removing this linkage?

Is that little stud threaded into the shock stud? Might just have to extract the little broken one and replace it.

I would throw some heat on it and see if you can get it to move.

Its a little late now but why would you use a heavy duty impact gun to turn a single small bolt?
Have it welded back together and use a wrench to turn it while its still glowing hot.
Using the right tools for the job is half the battle.
A lump hammer and heavy duty impact wrench aint it man.feldsforever and Snailexpress Thank this. -

I had that linkage damaged on an icy day once and it was really bad conditions but it caused my rear drives to spin while barely touching the ground. Hopefully you can drive it to the shop.
Rideandrepair Thanks this.
