High back or low back, Bostrom or Legacy? I’m 5’11” and 210lbs.

Legacy, my Bostrom feels like a piece of plywood after a couple hours.

Go try them all at 4 State Trucks and the Petro across the street. Both have a large selection and 4 State have theirs floor-mounted and supplied with air.

I went with a Legacy Lo, mounted to their adjustable base (you need a truck-specific adapter plus a base to bolt the seat to). It allows 3 different mounting heights, so one can fine tune the seat height. IMO, of all the seats I’ve driven in, being slip-seated, tons of rentals, etc, the Legacy is above the rest for being non-fatiguing. Strangely, it was a Ryder Cascadia rental that had the Legacy in it. Eight years later, it was the seat I bought, for myself. I consistently ran over 3500mi/wk with my best being 4277mi, in that seat. Despite breaking my back in 1983, I never had a bit of pain, doing those miles, in that seat. I took a break from trucking and sold the seat to another driver. Two weeks later, he called me to say how much he loved that seat. Haha.

However, my buddy bought a Bostrom for his 579. He didn’t think the Legacy was as good, for him. But, he’s a much larger frame and heavier than I. Also, he has a lot of back pain, despite not running near the miles. Whether it’s the seat or not, I don’t know. I don’t recall him complaining about the seat in his previous truck (Volvo) like he does about this one.

I’d suggest shopping your local truck dealer, as well. CIT in Springfield, IL, usually has a good selection of Legacy product on the floor. They usually have the seat adapters in stock, too. They were quite a bit cheaper than 4 State, Petro, or Iowa 80 stores. The CIT store in Normal, IL, doesn’t have hardly anything and I find them to not be quite the customer experience Springfield is.

Will the seat’s bolt pattern match the truck, without a floor adapter plate?

Mine didn't, nothing a 3/8 drill bit and some hillbilly engineering can't fix. I don't advise doing that route though.

My truck has not been, “big holed” so the seat adjustment is limited anyway. I’d rather not buy a plate, if I didn’t have to.

Well then I'd go ahead and add holes to base plate, not too hard to use a piece of beer case or something for a template.

Just make a pattern off your current seat, transfer that over to your new seat’s base plate, and drill away.
