I recent replaced the front and rear turn signals on my 19888 peterbilt with led lights. I switched out the flasher with a 552? Flasher.
My right turn signal works fine, however, my left is very dim up front, barely clicks the relay, and doesn't turn on the lights at all in the rear.
When I stick a test light into the flashing power feed (3 wire setup), my lights work as they should. With the hazards on, they work as it should.
the other 2 wires don't change anything so I don't think it's a grounding issue. It seems like their isn't enough resistance to power the lights on the drivers side and the test light bulb is drawing the necessary energy to power the signals.

http://www.grote.com/products/44891-variable-load-electronic-led-flasher-flasher/. You need to replace it with a flasher made for LED lights. Similiar to the Grote 44891.
zraffz Thanks this. -
So why would one side work?
-
Like smellfunny said. You will need a led flasher. The one side might be putting more resistance on the flasher and thats why it trips the old style flasher. To test it hook up Trailer with old style lights on it. It will probably work fine. Led signals draw very little current.

The 552 by blaze is advertised as fully electronic. I do however hear and feel it clicking so it can't be 100% electronic. I'll pick up the Grote from Napa tomorrow and give it a shot.

Speaking of this issue, this morning I finally had time to replace my Century Headlights witch are poor at night, so I bought three weeks ago LED headlight assembly, turn signals and day time driving lights and when I connected the wires which they match, it worked but when I turned the switch, the parking lights stayed on even though the switch was turned off! Tried connecting the turn signal and it dint flash so I just put everything back in the box and called Chrome 75 in wildwood Florida for the pros to connect it and have all new lights even LED fog lights so I did think that there was a flasher relay or something needed to run this new technology.
-
Their is a required relay BUT I changed mine prior to writing this and it fixed the issue on one side. I can't imagine how one side can draw more power than the other but who knows lol
-
Fixed. I didn't notice the left turn signal indicator dash light was burnt out. I guess that little bulb drew enough to power the relay!

It may have. I would install the other flasher anyway though. One indicator light out and you will have none.
