    My last carrier I worked for went bankrupt and reduced all their trucks to only bobtail insurance. When the insurance company requoted everything they told them that they could no longer cover me on insurance. I have another carrier willing to lease me on but they go through the same insurance company. I’m wondering if I can just add liability and cargo insurance onto my current bobtail and non trailer owner insurance policy. (They are a different insurance company that seemed to have no issues covering me.) I’m afraid the small town insurance company that both companies use won’t cover me if they try to add my truck onto the new authority.

    Far as I'm aware cargo must be in operating companies name to.

    @wichris is 100% on liability.

    You can get Non-Truck/bobtail and physical damage for your equipment.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

    Probably worth looking at if its YOU or your truck theyre refusing to insure.

    And why

    So for instance, is your truck 30 years old?

    Or do you have 3 rollovers in a 5 year span?

    Or are you trying to list a 4 year old truck at 200k$

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

    Once you buy your own Liability and cargo, might as well have you’re own authority. If Leased on, they can insure you, and charge you back the cost. No rule against charge backs for anything. Similar thing happened to me once. Carrier cancelled my Lease without notice. Insurance new rate was high, since the Discount was no longer available. Chances are they’ll have no problem covering you, once your Leased onto the new Carrier.
