So, going to CR Englands school in Salt Lake City, UT. Got it in writing via e-mail I will get to be home every 4-5 weeks after training. I know I"ll have to suck it up for over a year. But oh well.
What I was wanting to know, is what is the difference between being a Lease Driver, Owner Operator, and standard Operator? Been using search function, but they all essentially skew left and right, and essentially all share the same definitions between each other.
So what's the scoop?
LEASE vs OWNER operator?

A lease operator is a glorified company driver that pays all the bills and expenses, but owns nothing. An owner operator is someone who would not work for CR England. A standard operator is someone looking to escape CR England as soon as they possibly can.
wheres da $$$, Justrucking2, HopeOverMope and 10 others Thank this. -

A owner operator owns his truck and can work for whoever he wants, a lease operator is basically a unpaid company employee with no benefits taking on all the responsibility of running the truck ,akin to indentured servitude. Ther is a reason. Lease. & Fleece rhyme !

The short answer is don't lease a truck from anyone !!! You need to learn to drive for a few years before you take on all the stuff that goes with being the the guy that pays all the bills . I will also say don't do the England thing too many get screwed by them for me to suggest anyone go there . Ok now I know you are going to go there because you have made up your mind already so I will say it again don't lease learn to be a truck driver first !!! Good luck and I hope you are one of the lucky ones
Raiderfanatic and Marky84 Thank this. -
You must not have done much research on cr England if so you would not be going to work for them. and if you do work for them do not even think about leasing or becoming an owner operator till you get some experience! I truly hope you listen to all the advice given you , Good luck!

I can't speak for England, but have heard the nightmare stories from many Lease drivers.
Any company that has an abundance of trucks, with company drivers and Lease, O/Op's guaranteed the company truck will take the better paying load, or more miles, and dispatched first. The company has to pay for their own trucks, while you are paying for your own. That is not to say they want their lease drivers to fail, or default, just they have bills to pay too. -
a company slave paying there bills while they starve him out of house and home. with negative statements most of the time.

have you tried a google search on England and there lease purchase deal. it is not set up to benifit you it's set up to benefit them. stay a company driver for a year and save every penny you can and buy your own truck from a dealer and if things don't you work out then you and ( your ) truck can move on!! did you ask em if you could modify the truck such as if you wanted an apu on it chances are probily not. after I read what I read in cr England id'e run like hell from em. after doing some researching it seems that freight companies have found a new way to make money and it's not by moving freight it's by leasing trucks out. it's not a good idea to buy a truck from a company that controls your paycheck.
