Hello I’m new here. I have a 214 Kenworth T680 that just had a fresh oil change and lube done. I just noticed that my front u joint is wet and flinging grease all over the bottom of my truck. I also noticed that the bolt on the top left of the u joint was loose. Can this cause the grease to shoot out like that?

U joints do that. Which bolt was loose? You can see that top cup has been spinning. Definitely needs new straps

It’s coming from the slip yoke. They probably over greased it. There’s a pin hole at the end of the yoke. If you have air ride, the flexing up and down will compress the slip shaft and squirts the excessive grease out. Nothing to worry about. But the loose nut, could be a problem.

Replace straps and bolts and torque.
If the cap keeps spinning after strap replacement it needs a new yoke and u-joint.
It is normal for a serviceable u joint to sling grease after service. In my opinion if grease does not come out, it wasnt greased enough.Oxbow, BoxCarKidd, black_dog106 and 3 others Thank this. -

Thank you all. I had the strap bolts retightened. So far it’s working great. It hasn’t leaked anymore grease out since yesterday so must have been just excess grease.
