What is the best route? US-83 to US-277 to US-90 to Ft Stockton/ I-10 or stay on N 277/377 at Del Rio and catch 1-10 at Sonora? Thanks

83 to 277 to 90 and catch I-10 at Ft Stockton? Or, stay on 277/377 N and catch the 10 at Sonora? Thanks

If u stay on 90 a little longer . It runs into i10 right there at the pilot in van horn. Its peaceful 2 lane. A little bit longer miles but is worth it , if u dont like the big roads

Actually, staying on US 90 to Van Horn, is 2 miles shorter than going up to Ft Stockton.

When I was hauling milk I was usually on the main highway going to the dairy.

90 % of the runs you were empty going back, so I would take the back roads through all the little towns .

Most runs were 3-500 miles and I was not into making miles , just getting my time in and enjoying the road with some good tunes.

90 all the way in is a little slower but a nice drive if you have the time. All are good routes plus ya know... Texas. High speed limits even on 2 lane roads.

I’ve always gone Sonora. Never taken 90 all the way. Taking 35/loop/10 is about 60 miles longer than that route. But not an hour longer for sure.

    Just saying

To be honest, it’s almost a wash to go i35 to San Antonio depending on your speed and how heavy you are. Plus, there are a lot of lonesome miles on those back roads with absolutely no phone service.

But I get my best times going up and catching i10 at Fort Stockton.

    PE_T and Linte_Loco Thank this.
