I'm not seeing anything on this how does it work with lumper's at land star if I'm having to pay a 200 dollar lumper's is that added into the pay of the load
-
How do lumper's work with land star do they add more into the load to accommodate for the price of the lumper's and what about fuel do they tote the fuel note until you pay check then take it out or is that all put of pocket
-
It Varys. There are some loads I have taken where the lumper fee is pointed out in advance and including in my revenue. If there was nothing in the FB about it then LS / agent will reimburse or cut you a check for it assuming you have a reciept. make sure the agent is aware in advance.

10-4 can u explain what a fuel surcharge is? Do they pay for the fuel in the tractor for that load and does lamdstar have a year model requirement for a tractor
-
Your question causes me to to respectfully encourage you to learn a lot more about this business if you are intending to lease to Landstar or buy a truck period. To your question the fuel surcharge is a method to offset the ups and downs of the fuel price and its affect on the industry. It is based on the national average of diesel and goes up .01 for every .06 cost per gallon unit. The intent of the fuel surcharge is not to pay for your fuel but to offset the increase of the cost per gallon and bring your average out at 1.25 per gallon. Landstar does not fuel your truck. If you have money on your fuel card you can buy fuel, if you dont you cant. You are able to take an advance of up to 30% of the load you are booked on to cover your needs. Landstar does require all trucks are capable of ecm/ELD compatibility. Not sure exactly what the year requirement may be.

Do landstar offer health insurance?
-
Maybe? They had insurances that you could get but I have medical coverage already. They dont offer it in the traditional sense like a company driver may be offered as we are all independent contractors.
Dwardell662 Thanks this.
