You posted in the other thread, that you though the CSA 2010 and log books made the roads safer. And that you supported those because you though it made the roads safer.

Do you have any proof that what you support, actually makes the roads safer? Or was it just something a safety director told you, and you believed?

Why are you against CSA 2010?....It's about accountability and nothing more....

Want to become CSA compliant?
Keep your records straight....
Carry spare lamps and fuses.....
Do your pre-trip/post trip and log it....

It's not rocket science....

If you get pulled in for an inspection and DOT finds a tail-lamp out...Is it their fault it went out?

You have a spare...you replace it....Even if you get written up for it...It's an infinitesimal amount against you points-wise....

Why so many drivers worry about CSA 2010 is puzzling....Almost bad as "I just bought a '88 Freightliner COE....Can I make a good living running containers from the Port of Los Angeles with it?"

One night, I fueled up in West Memphis. By the time I got to the east bound TN scales, I had a tire that was leaking air. It wasn't leaking when I fueled up because I checked my tires. And there was still air coming out of one. Not to mention, And airline has started leaking that wasn't leaking when I fueled up. Because I had my hood open and has checked my oil. The airline was the front steer, just under where I checked my oil. So I know it wasn't leaking. And to add insult to injury, when i turned on my lights (just before the scale) one of my visor lights had just went out.
So when I got to the scales, there was no way I was getting through without an inspection. When I rolled up on the platform and rolled down my window, I could hear the air leaking.

If you have driven long enough, this stuff happens. And if you throw in the amount of trucks on the road, it probably happens all the time. Just not to one driver.

So under the new regulations, these things go on a point system, that not only hurts your chances of getting a job or keeping your job, it also give the DOT a reason to say "We're right"..Just look at all the "unsafe trucks" on the road. And just look at how many we've mandated they keep their trucks in safe working order....

And to guys who support the CSA 2010, that's as far as their thinking capabilities go. But you can't stop there. You have to look beyond what the government says.

Here's why. Because I'm not going to drive down the road with leaking air in my tires or lines. I'm not going to go down the road with light burned out. When I find something wrong, I get it fixed. Period. End of story.

But the mentality of the DOT, FMCSA and those drivers that support those agentcies fail to realize that 99% of us drivers care about our lives, the lives of others and our equiptment, alot more than they do.

And so it's not a matter of being an outlaw. It's a matter of working through problems when they arise.

Someone driving down the road with bald tires, wires hanging and other things, don't understand, that the driver of the truck, maybe having other problems. He may be going through an expencive divorce. He may be trying to save money to get his kid or wife a life saving operation or cancer treatment. You don't know what's going on. But those that either work for a company, gotten a good contract, or have all their bills paid off, sometimes don't think about what it's like to be going through some hard times. And so therefore you've have a disconnect in how you percieve others. Some people think that everyone should be as well off as them.

for me its real simple, I run hard and when I get tired I sleep..

my safety record more than backs up my ability to make the right choice I don't need some college boy who never sat day one in a truck to determine whats safe for me..

You don't need to carry your CDL to know you can drive your rig...But why is that you are required to carry it for others to know you are qualified?

Think about that..........

I just would like there to be a determination made between things that just happened, and things that had to be that way for a long time.

For example bald tire = been that way for a long time

Brand new tire with a chunk ripped out of it = probably just happened.

Brakes out of adjustment = been that way

Slight leak in a brake chamber = probably just happened

Loose tie rod end = been that way

1 broken leaf in a spring pack with no rust = probably just happened.

I know I can tell if something is freshly broken, or has been broken and neglected for a week. I don't have any magical powers. It's not all that hard really.

Partyly. But its also about truckers ratings. That's why truck drivers get points.. DUH?

BTW, when did you become such an advocate of government interference in business? Starting to like that "big government idea" all of a sudden?
