Over the next year maybe 2 ill have enough saved up to strick it out as an owner op leasing truck onto a company like admiral merchant ot landstar running opendeck flatbed. Right now im trying to figure out what truck would be most reliable. Better fuel economy. Less breakdowns. Longer lasting. And a decent price tag looking for around 85k price tag under 400k miles. What would be the best bet? T680 pete 579? Frieghliner cascadia? Volvo? Thanks

None of the above. Honesty sucks sometimes. The older the better is my mantra.

Seriously these posts are so often. Look through the forum if you really want to know. People may flood this posts with opinions but really it depends on your application and intended use. Do you have to go to California? Then you may need an emissions truck, if not, then maybe you don’t. Don’t be like me and buy your first truck by brand. It’s way wiser to buy by motor and drive line THEN brand.

I agree 100%. The older Dino Soars with mechanical engines are the most reliable and easiest to work on if you have the grit and mechanical aptitude to make and keep an older truck dependable.

If that's not your situation or you like the newer nonsense, check the Mechanics forum. If you spend some time there it won't take long to realize which trucks and engines are having more problems than others.

Be advised that if you have an emissions truck or even an electronic truck for that matter that has any kind of glitch or hiccup 5 to $10,000 can go in the blink of an eye. Some guys have had problems where they've been to maybe five or six shops and the problem was not resolved. Make sure you have plenty of money put away for breakdowns and time that you're not working and still making your payments and insurance and what not.

    Good luck.
