KTA cummins are 19 litre displacement, if that tells you anything........

I've heard as high as the upper 6's for mpg. Its all gonna depend on how you drive it.

The first week you get it it'll be in the 3 mpg range though.

Is it a twin turbo? I think that's what the A stood for in KTA 600. The good old days of big power!

Les2 describes the mileage, perfectly! Like any truck the right foot is the biggest influence, but even more so with these motors. Another major consideration to the K motor is expense. Parts are expensive. And the K is 1000 pound heavier than the 15-16 liter motors.
KTA the K is the series motor, the T is turbo(the twin turbos were KTTA) and the A is aftercooled. The 450HP rating was KT with no aftercooler.
The 600's are single turbo. I believe anything over 600 was twin turbo(construction, industrial, etc)? The K motor is a "square motor", 6.25"x6.25" bore and stroke.
In stock form, the new higher HP rating electronic motors have more torque rating than the K's. :biggrin_25514:

Still the record holder for the largest displacement engine ever put in a street legal vehicle as I recall.

I noticed you said its been rebuilt recently, how many miles since I wonder. I have seen a lot of these motors in gensets at rock quarries about all of them that were bought fresh overhaul had head gasket trouble due to improper liner height. The bill on the last one to tear it down and shim liners to proper height was 7500.00 that was reusing everything we could as it was new parts just bad install. Just something to ask or think about. If it was done by someone that has been around a KT you won't have any trouble and no doubt you will like it.

Maybe for the diesel, but I have seen some pictures of early trucks that have V12 hall-scott gas engines in them at around 1998CID, and I think there was even one that topped 2200CID.
