I got a straight truck with a crane I need towed from Greensboro NC to say North Iowa along I-35. I don't want it on RGN or steep deck because of it size would be to costly to ship that way. One way you would need permits making it double and with some work could make legal without permits.
I figured towing if such companies exists would also be cheaper.
Truck is 39'6" long but could be shorted 2 feet with some work. I would also say 4-5 feet on each end is fee feet above the ground.
Height is around 13-5 to 13-6 mostly in the center can be lowered 6 in to 2ft.
I did not know anyplace else to ask.
If you know any companies that can do this please post it here or pm me.
I was thinking something along the lines of a 5th wheel lift like the zack lift
or heck a tow bar.
Know any long distance towing companies?

Most all wrecker companies will haul your truck anywhere you pay them to.

Mad Jay towing is just north east of des Moines. He will tow anything anywhere. Good guy. They got several wreckers and options to chose from. Rates seemed reasonable to me.if he can’t do it he will know how to get it done.

I doubt that towing it would be cheaper than putting it on an RGN.
If it’s towed most likely the wrecker would only have the possibility of being loaded only one way where the RGN would have back haul options.
Also a lot of those heavy duty wreckers cost over half a million dollars or more so divided out how many tows in a year a truck of that size does and you can see why heavy duty towing and recovery rates have to be so high.
The monthly payment on a brand new decked out Pete is a joke to what those heavy wrecker guys pay a month for a decked out rig.W900AOwner, QuietStorm and rolls canardly Thank this. -

Even if it was the same price at least I would not have to work about doubling the price because of height and not have to fly out and screw with for half day to try and lower it.
Currently I was quoted by FR8 $4.00 a mile for 1000 mi, $800 I think for FR8, and another $4,000 for permits. I can see $3 a mile but $4 for RGN or lowboy. I could have swore o/o's was complaining not making $3.
Kinda reminds me of my operation. I own and operate a dry wall crane truck. I only get paid by the mile. Nothing more based on weight and/or size of the load. I do a lot of dead heading, waiting to be loaded, unloaded many time a day, and don't get payed more for even using the crane unless I am to sit for a while.
Then I always get asked why I don't get a newish truck. Well anything with in 5 years years is still nearly $200k.
Hopefully, this new stuff I am getting lined up will pay good and I get lot of it. -
How's tree fiddy a mile plus permits and roller dogs sound?
whoopNride Thanks this. -
Right now its just guessing and looking around if it need to be hauled. Depending on what the cost come in I may have the shop throw in a used engine or have it hauled here and do it my self. -
Why don't you just fly out and drive it back? Or even hire a driver to do it.
just fuel, hotels and state drive permits (not outrageous usually for a 1 or 2 day permit to drive thru their state) -
