I am not on here to vent and blow up like some people, (That doesn't mean that I won't in the future.) but I feel compelled to report this to help my fellow drivers in the future. I am trying to get back into trucking after 2 years away from the industry. Unfortunately, while working in another field, I got a speeding ticket 20 over the posted limit a little over a year ago. After being turned down by a few companies for that reason, I began bringing it up with the recruiters right off the bat. Before I started that, I was invited to go to orientation by Knight Transportation. After being turned down by several "good" companies I got to thinking that getting "hired" by Knight Transportation was way too easy. I started researching Knight Transportation on this forum as well as youtube and other sources. Aside from the slamming Knight Transportation got on this forum, I found an interesting youtube video by a guy who claims he went to Knight Transportation orientation for 2 and 1/2 days only to be told he didn't qualify for hire just before being assigned a truck. I don't believe every thing I hear, but it did prompt me to give Knight Transportation a call today to follow-up on my follow-up. Before anyone cries foul: I DID put everything about my work history and driving history, both positive and negative, on the application that the recruiter viewed before the recruiter invited me to Knight Transportation orientation. I called Knight Transportation recruiting again and was both polite and blunt. I told them that I wanted to make double sure that I was eligible for pre-hire before I spent precious time and money attending Knight Transportation orientation. Of course, that ticket that I reported on the application would have disqualified me. Did I get an apology...nope. I got a recruiter that went from polite to extremely defensive. Obviously, this is Knight Transportation's mode of operation as far as recruiting goes. I think it is extremely selfish and, not to mention, unethical. I'm very glad that I will not be working for Knight Transportation and I will be starting soon with another company that, so far, has been as open and honest with me as I have with them.

Good job on doing research. I am glad you did this before you went. I wish you nothing but the best. I gotta wonder though, will anyone who works at Knight read this? Take it easy... Good luck.

DANG!!! How do you really feel? LOL I kinda know how you feel. When I was a real rookie, just two or three months out of driving school, I was so afraid to get in trouble for idle rules with the company I worked for (CDL mill) that I went to bed in Connecticut in the middle of winter with the truck cut off all night. Of course, the batteries were dead in the morning and I got in more trouble for having to do the service call. Plus, I froze my hams off.

At 28 degrees you can idle. Plus all company trucks have bunk heaters.
trucks will idle over 70 degrees also.

Come one you where trying to skate by. You said so called "good company's" turned you down but because Knight is a "bad company" you thought your 20 over (which is wreckless driving in trucking) Was gonna pass? They probably use the same insurance carrier as your good company's do. And You want a apology because they laughed at you the second time you called instead of the first time like the so called good carriers.

Bet you want the Pet Shop Boy's greatest hits CD for Christmas also? :biggrin_25525:

I would have preferred venting or blowing up to this poor excuse for why a company is bad. You do not need a apology for wasting the recruiters time when even you should have known That even a "bad company" like Knight does not want wreckless drivers to try to pass by their insurance carriers. They are lowering their safestat, not trying to raise it.

Now do we have anyone with actual cognitive reasoning that has a legit complaint about Knight other then the recruiter hurt my feelings becuase they did not hire my wreckless behind?

    knighton5 Thanks this.
