How dependable are these trucks reason I ask in the processes of buying a Kenworth W900 or a Pete 379. Let me know your thoughts owner operators.

Great Trucks, hold value as good as Pete’s. Best looking Truck IMO. I like the leg room, don’t like the flat dash. Don’t care for the suspensions, front springs seem under sized to Me. They’re obviously adequate though. Rear suspension has been upgraded from ag100, 200, 300, or ? I lost track. Bushings are a problem, I hear, and aluminum rear spring hangers were known for breaking. But I’ve never heard a single Owner say they didn’t Love their W9. I would buy one. Overall I think they’re very good. Some others who actually Own one, would know more. Maybe a look into the Kenworth forum, could give some insight. Familiarize You with potential problems.

How big you are is important. The KW has a better cab if you're a man - meaning over 6' tall.

Kenworth seems, to me, to have better parts availability system/nation wide; and their salesmen don't act like they're doing you a favor. Peterbilt doesn't value legacy business like KW does - that's important when looking at a last-gen truck.

In the small fleet I'm in; Petes are our city/local trucks, and KW regional/long haul. The KWs suck ### for us in the city, horribly expensive to keep running. The reverse is true to a lesser extent on the highway but, that's partially due to - like I said - better availability of KW parts. Reliability is about the same long-distance, it's just more expensive and a longer wait to get Pete parts.

Your question boils down to "Blonde or Brunette?

Both do the same thing, and have the same equipment. Both are horribly overvalued and overpriced today. Both are riding on a legacy current performance doesn't maintain.

If/when I go independent I'm running Freightliners in 4 year cycles. They're the trucks that cause us the least problems, and are cheaper up front.

Peterbilt if you want a truck that blends in and looks like every other Peterbilt on the road.

Kenworth W900B if you want a truck that stands out in a crowd.

I don't see Peterbilts anymore. There's so many of them that all look pretty much the same, kinda like First Mustangs. Nothing wrong with the Mustang, or the Peterbilts, but there's only so many things one could do to dress one up, and we've all seen it all.

The W900 can still catch my attention though. You simply don't see as many (at least around here anyway).

Both are good trucks BTW. I'd argue the W900 is built better though.
