What is your opinion on a Kenworth T2000? Is it a good truck to buy for a first timer? Overall if you have one are you happy with it? Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!

They are aerodynamic.Mostly fiberglass/ABSplastic constructed I think. The ones I`ve worked on seemed to have alot of dash problems, but they were late 90`s models. Not my favorite Kenworth, but a Kenworth none the less, and Kenworth don`t build no junk.

    Yes they do!

It's called the T2000! I had one for a while and it was JUNK!! Poorly concieved and poorly built.
The T700 is just as bad and the Peterbilt abortion that shares the same cab is JUNK as well.

I have a 2010 T2000. Last year they were made. Last year with the Gen3 engines (no DEF)
I have 360,000+ miles on it and have had only one 'major' repair. Replaced the compressor two weeks ago.
It's roomy, has a good layout and comfortable.
Dash is laid out nicely. A bit of a reach for the radio. I wish they'd put it a bit closer, but the instrument cluster is easy to use.
The windshield is spacious. You have good sight of the road in front with the sloped hood. Much better than I had with the W900. Less rattles, too.
I like the heated and remote control mirrors. I know a lot of trucks have those now, but my 96 W9 didn't.
There's a bit of wind noise at the mirrors, especially when there's a strong headwind, but nothing serious.
A/C can freeze you out in Arizona and the heater will keep you warm in Wyoming in February.
My dash says I average 7.8 mpg (with ISX), but my figures show it about 7.2 overall.
    I pull a reefer.
If you're worried about the plastic front end, just get a deer bumper.
The truck has been largely worry free, makes me money and I like it.
If you have a specific question, feel free to ask.

That means they DO build junk. Not to be the grammar police, but English is preferred in here.

Thanks Emulsified for all the info. My bf is thinking of getting one, we were looking at the T600 but we saw the T2000 and we like it much better, seems more roomy and a better layout inside. Just wondering what the opinions were, this would be the first truck he's gonna buy, so the decision is not easy.
Keep the opinions coming, love to hear what you guys have to say :biggrin_25519:

I have a 2009 T2000. It has 485,000 miles on it and I've had it since mile 44.
I like the roominess of the inside, the desk to work on. I've installed a refrigerator under the desk (available from KW, Iowa 80 and other places), Micro up above.
The closet space is just right for me. Plenty of storage under the bunk.
Have the ISX engine. No problems so far.
Rides well, pulls well. I average a bit over 7.3 with it and pull a reefer too.
I run all 48, but mostly the west and upper midwest.
Has the EF 8 speed, but I had the gear splitter kit installed so it's now 13.
Makes me money. Not sorry I bought it.
I've run W900's and Freightliner Classics. I like the T2000 much better. Quieter, better vision out the front.
    I don't run into anything so I don't care if it's fiberglass.
    I'm here to make money.

I drove one for a couple of months. Not alot of time but enough to drive it in a varied amount of conditions. It was a newer low mileage tractor with an isx and 18 speed, 3.7 rear ends and 22.5 low pros. What i didnt like the most was the seating position, i just could not get comfortable in it. I also thought it wandered around on the road, especially in windy conditions. The engine and such i wont comment on as they are not specific to the truck model. I found it quiet inside, a good thing, also i found it easy to get around in, very roomy. It did get very good fuel mileage. It had a nice tight turning radius which is good but not a big deal to me. I thought it was "plasticy" and not put together all that well, lots of ratttles and shaking in the dash on rougher roads. To sum it up, I am in the process of putting funds together to purchase my own truck and it will not be on the list i am considering, thats what i thought of it. I have driven a volvo, 2 different pete's, 3 different kenworths and an IH . It was only second to the volvo as the worst of them.

Thanks kw9's rock. Since you've driven so many different trucks what would be your number 1 choice?
Maxwelltie, you are right, we are all here to make money, that is why this is such and important decision.
Andy, no, we haven't really looked at the T800 that much. What do you like about it?

    Thank you guys for everything!
