I have a 2015 kenworth t680 in california with a dpf/def delete so I went to the dmv and they will give me registration until I get proof of correction from manufacturer. I believe the recall has something to do with the knock sensors. Does anybody have any idea how to go about this? Can I take truck in like this or would I have to reinstall emissions?

You always hear rumors that dealerships won’t work on trucks with emissions deletes. However, I think they maybe only for warranty work. If it’s out of pocket and not direvtly work on a problem involving emissions, what would they care. They getting payed for it. So I guess you could try. I sure as hell would before putting that stuff back on

When Kenworth goes to check out the Nox sensors, I think that the fact that your truck has been deleted will definitely be a problem. You should call or go in and talk to them before taking your truck in.

Why can’t you just ignore the recall?

It's in California. The recall is for a Nox sensor, part of the emissions system so they want it done before they will let him register the truck. Sucks. Enough to make a person move out of state.

Sounds like there's only 2 options:

    -Undelete the truck.
-Sell it and buy a truck that hasn't been altered.

Or move out of CA. I’m sure there are plenty of shops who will cook up some documents for the right price per minute. Dumb regulations always create an underground market.

Absolutely not true, the dealer won’t work on a truck with a delete unless they can restore it because it is kind of the law that they can’t work on it without the emissions equipment.

I'm glad we don't give a rat's behind about that stuff up here (at least we didn't). Remember walking thru the dealership shop and seeing deleted trucks in there all the time.
