I have a vented cap on one tank and non vented on the other. Aren't they supposed to be either vented OR unvented? I'd like to replace them as a set but not sure of which style to get for a matching set. It's on a 94 W9.

This depends on if you have a gravity equalizing system or a vacuum equalizing system!
JimmyWells Thanks this. -

Gravity equalizing the tanks will have a fuel line at the bottom of the tanks running from one to the other! Vacuum equalizing ! The lines are at the top so while the truck is running it will create a vacuum in the ventless tank and pull fuel from the vented tank!
2CAN Thanks this. -
No line on bottom of either tank, both tanks have check valve vent lines on top and the other lines are the fuel return and send lines.

JimmyWells Thanks this.

Since the tank vents have some sort of check valve on them to let pressure out wouldn't the caps have to be vented to let in some vacuum?

I'm having the same issue. Have vented on one side and non vented on the other. KW t680. Which should it be??

Tank is vented, uses non vented caps.

Paccar tank vents are designed to let air in. The check ball in the vent keeps fuel from leaking out the vent in case of rollover.
I don’t believe any of the fill caps are actually vented. The factory fill caps have a pressure relief valve the vents pressure if the tank pressure becomes too high. I have seen aftermarket caps that do not have this.spsauerland Thanks this.
