Has anyone ever worked for these tanker companies? What can you tell me about them, if anything?
Thanks.

sought after company for employment. The only thing i didn't like about them was the bi-weekly pay schedule.....they have great equipment and maintenance.....
Energy dispatch is another good company, very sought after for employment....never heard a complaint in 3 years in the gas/jet biz.
Hope this helped out. -
Use to pull a tank in chemical business. Miller, Then Dana. Was around quite a few of their drivers at load/unload sites. Seemed pretty happy. Never talked to one who was really angry. Just the usual trucking company small points of agravation.

I know a little about Keenan;
Their fleets is mainly macks and peterbilts (more macks will replace peterbilts)
Their pay is top notch for o/o's (my friend is leased on to them thru PTC)
Their main accounts are 7-11, Hess, and BP
Very good insurance
They bought out Transport Service Co which is a food and chem company

Keenan guarantees you $500/week for being available 6 days/week.
And believe me, when it slows down I work until I get $500.00 then you sit home.
That's how it is in NC where I work.
There is no seniority, only benefit of staying is slow pay increase.
No raises in 3 years.
Local runs pay by the load, not hourly.
Lets say you have a local run for instance loading chemical tankers, delivering them less than 20 miles away-once you are unloaded you do it again for a total of 3 loads to deliver.
Now each time you pick up a load you have to give up the first 2 hours waiting time for free, after that you get paid hourly.
So if you pick up 3 loads a day, and there is a line at the loading rack-you will sit around unpaid for 6 hours.
The loaders know that and so does Kenan, and they abuse it.
Most trucks are ok and they keep them up. There are a few with over 600,000 miles on them with bad seats and they don't think twice about sending you out on a 550 mile turn in them.
Oh yeah-they installed computers in the trucks that keep track of everything you do-they are trying to use it for logs also.Last edited: Feb 20, 2009

I was a dispatcher for Kenan. Just beware cross anyone in the office for any reason and they will starve you out! That's why I left their dispatchers like to play favorites way to much for my liking!

If you want to make money in the fuel transport business you need to do it at night. You can get in and out at of the loading terminals

Newtruckerwidow is definately correct on that. I am an owner-op for one of the companies that kenan bought out within the last 2 years and I have watched a good company go right down in the toilet since they took us over. I have to keep looking at the title to my truck just to see who's name is on it anymore. They havent got to us owners yet with those cadec computers yet but when they do I am history. we have a new dispatcher and i am wondering if he came from kenan corp because he definately plays favs with the drivers. I cant say anything bad about our original dispatchers, they always took care of me but times have changed. Oh they are also telling us owners that our trucks will be turned down to 65, once again gotta peek at that title to make sure its my name. Also have been forced to take their bobtail insurance or go find another job. They dont know alot about lease agreements evidently because, it is said we have to provide the bobtail and phys damage and pointed this out and still no changes in leases, makes ya wonder about this company.
Every day seems to be a new rule in effect. Unfortunately i waited to late to get out of there and now nobody is hiring right now.
CALGON take me away!! -
Dispatchers do know the skinny. I said that in warning. I left them along w/ the TM went to eagle. We ran the terminal fair until the big wigs stepped in and started doing the same thing.
