Some of y'all are parking your truck till things get better. Selling your truck is also an option but you need insurance to keep your number active.

Overheard someone saying... And I quote

"just insurance your personal car as a commercial vehicle and your number stay active"

    How true is that

Insurance co's aren't dumb. My Chevy app notes my odometer mileage. And my insurance co' has access to that. As well as carfax info. Get an oil change, odometer goes into "the system" , insurance takes a look !

Needed my pickup's front end re-done, struts, ball joints, wheel bearings, rotors and pads and re-sealed the front diff.

Also he did the inspection and an oil change too.

This is a HD transmission shop who installed a re-man trans a while ago.

CARFAX send me an email saying my inspection and oil change are over due.

Looked at the history and the trans re-man isn't there either, the place dosen't report it like Valvoline oil change, etc. though the state inspection will get the mileage to the state.

It isn't. What is, is having a truck that is on the books and insured, it can be a class 6/7 truck as long as it is a drivable truck.

Some insurance companies allow to drop coverage to liability only I think and it would cost only couple hundred bucks per month, I know Great West used to do that. Check with your agent

I had about a 90 day period between selling my 2010 truck to buying my 2020 truck. My insurance left the 2010 on there until I bought the 2020 because they said I had to have a truck on the policy, or it would be cancelled.

I had a 30 day overlap when I sold my last truck and got my new truck. Just kept insurance on the old one until the new truck got in. Wonder if one could just pay for a year up front and drop the insurance to mins and keep it on a truck that might have been sold? Not sure they would catch it and if they did it might take awhile to do so.

I SOLD mine to a dealership (not a trade) I wouldn't have done what I did had I sold it to a random person.

I thought the Insurance requirement is for a minimum 750k public liability. If so, how much would be saved compared to the probable 1 mil coverage you now have? Cargo can be exempted, collision etc. are optional. I’m sure you could insure a mini van or 1/4 ton pick up. No different than a small parcel delivery company. Question is how much does $750k public liability damage cost? Look on the FMCSA website. There’s info on how to put Authority on ice for a while. Also says you can reactivate it at a small cost and not get targeted for enforcement. Apparently there’s been a lot of inquiries.
