I haul. Mostly off road 160 000 pounds and seem to have issues with Alcoa ,8000 lbs rims. Seems like quality in not what it used to be because I have lots of old 10 year old 8.25 x22.5 that are holding up great and the new ones I buy crack after a year. Anyone have any luck with other brands of rims. I thinking about switching to kic rims or accuride 8000 lbs rims

Look to see the country of origin on the new rims. If it is stamped CHINA you found the problem.

Made in Mexico Hmmm, reason enough right there to look at a different manufacturer.

I think the problem is in the user name. :)

I had the same problem at my old outfit as well. Was running an 8-axle setup grossing up to 160k as well. I guess it's just the weight they can't handle. Worked out for me as the boss was just gonna toss them, so I brought them to the local meth hangout (aka scrap metal recyclers...lol) and got $50 a piece for them!

Just bought 4 kic aluminum rims. Weight rating 8080 lbs. Gonna see if these hold up better. What I can't understand is I have a wack of old 5 to 10 year old Alcoa 8000 lbs rims and they give me no trouble at all and when I put new ones. They are cracked within a year. Seems like quality is not what it used to be or are they just stamping the 8000 lbs weight rating on the light duty rims

I'd say that is a bit heavy. I went through a few when we were only grossing 106k hauling fuel. I wouldn't be a bit surprised now though with them being made over seas. Hopefully the KICs hold up. Where are they made?

How are the KIC's holding up? Just bought 2 of them. Looks like they're made by Accuride?
