Just got my H&Y & Copper Electronics fall 2013 CB Radio Catalogs!

    Surprises! The Magnum 1012 handheld finally in stock:biggrin_25519:! Priced at $180.00, In my opinion (for those with General/ Extra Class Ham License) the best bargain in either catalog. I wonder if one of them will offer the Albrecht version here in the USA soon? Now the disappointments (THUMBS DOWN!), yes sir! Now keep in mind that most of these radios are being marketed to truck drivers (majority AM use/ few SSB users); and here is why I give a thumbs down ($$$$) - and except for the States of AK, DE, MT, NH, & OR you still have to factor in sales tax! ..............................................................................................................
    Ranger 2950, 2970N2, 936FC4, 63FFC4, 69FFB4 = $270.00 - $600.00:biggrin_25513: ..... Magnum Omega Force, S3, S6, S9 = $272.95 - $500.00:biggrin_25523: .     And keep in mind that these radios are primarily used for one band (AM-11meter) and predominately on one channel(19)! Both companies have the newer model Uniden's (incl the very nice SSB BC-980) and Cobra's more reasonably priced. I give Copper Electronics a thumbs up for their article "Big Coil Antennas EXPOSED"...... ur comments r welcome; I will now brace myself!

    why would they carry both the Magnum and the Albrecht, they are one in the same? the price on the Albrecht would probably be more than the Magnum to cover the import duties.

    They're all junk to begin with - no real 10 meter rigs has a channel control on them.

    Guess that makes my Magnum S45HP and my Magnum 257HP a real ham rig, since neither of them has a channel knob, but rather a frequency knob? :biggrin_25519:

    But both of your CBs can display channel but what makes them "a real ham rig" is the echo and roger beeper.

    Actually the 257 neither has echo nor roger beep.


    BTW I was being sarcastic with the "real ham rig" remark. :yes2557:

    My entire post was supposed to be sarcastic.All in all your two radios are pretty good ones on either 11 or 10 meters.I know some hams might give you a ration of $h*t for using them on 10M but they probably wouldn't know it was a CB/export unless you told them.

    didn't the first generation 257 had a beeper from the factory... didn't they.??????

    the COBRA 200 GTL -- the COBRA 148F GTL (which I owned and mistakenly let a cb shop butcher it) -- the UNIDEN series HR 2510, 2600 and President Lincoln 2830; I'll even through in the Ranger 2950 N2 over the 2970 N2 for long range DX performance over the 2970s total output power! Now these were/are your better 10 meter radios!

    Because Sir, There are many of us Drivers who call another country home and the Albrecht has a few more features (especially for European use), that the Magnum 1012 does not have. More importantly, I would more than likely get a better price here in the US than in the UK or Europe.
