Hello. I worked for Schneider National for a short time but I'm not working there anymore and now I have a roadtest for another company. I was wondering if my former DBL at Schneider will give job a reference or just refer the new potenial employer to get a copy of my DAC report.

Your new company will go through human resources to get your proof of employment. Your DBL won't have anything to do about it. H.R. and your DAC are where it's at my friend.

They have to give out the information about you being employed there, your driving record (accidents, tickets, etc), and whether you failed any alcohol or drug screens. Some places will advise the new company if they would hire you back, your reason for leaving, sometimes even your reliability.

You as a driver can actually view your report there. it is a few bucks for the report but worth it. When I was hiring on the recruiter at SNI told me something was on my report from Central refrigerated", so I need to get a copy before I was hired. It was nothing bad. Central just noted that I worked for them, had NO accidents, NO incidents, and that I had quit and was NOT terminated along with my dates of employment.
So yes they check your record as well, they just get the info from driverfacts.com -
I'd never heard of these guys until now. I went on their site to request a free report, I likely screwed up, I never did see how to do it.
As far as SNI using DAC, now called HireRight, I request an annual free copy every year, and SNI is one of the companies, requesting, and giving info. http://www.hireright.com/Consumers-Applicants.aspx
