The specs on Windy Hill:
This is what we know from filling out the paperwork. You usually start within 5-10 days after paperwork( the drug screening was done the same day)
You ride with a trainer 3-4 weeks.
After you get your own truck you are OTR a min of 3 weeks.
You get 1.5 days home for every 7 days. So that’s 4-5 days home after 3 weeks.. you can stay out longer if you want and earn longer hometime.
They are a smaller family owned company.
You deliver plants in the beginning of each run with a lot of stops but get $25-$50 for each stop. Then when plants are complete you deliver dry goods.
You get .46 cent per mile at first with increases every 3 months. But the end of first year .51 cents per mile. Quarterly bonus as well.
They provide new microwave, fridge and inverter to your truck. Your truck is your truck. No one else drives it. You leave the yard on every new run by 8am. Hometime starts the next morning after you drop your truck off ( the trucks all have to go to yard prior to hometime starting and remain until you leave again)
Rider and Animal policy free after six months
They do tuition reimbursement $200 a month after 1st 30 days.
Full benefits after 30 days.
There is a six month contract
$2500 buy out.

Sounds good to me too! Reading everything you've laid out, its a good beginner spot. The mileage pay is right on par for a beginner, and I'm inclined to think that your husband will turn some miles. If I'm in his shoes, I'd stay for one year minimum as opposed to the 6 months. I think he's in a great spot to begina trucking career.

Is it "Windy"...like the wind is blowing?

Or is it "Windy"....like you'd wind up a spool of thread?

And for the driver-facing cameras: is there any limit on how many times a driver can pick their nose -- before safety wants to talk with the driver about it?

Yes!! I forgot to mention that. They do have a No-Pick Policy. Three picks and you’re out!

There really isn’t an orientation. We went this past Wednesday to do paper. Then he starts off with the trainer in a truck. I think they have to make their way to the MI terminal during training to do some videos and more paperwork. But training pay is $600 a week.

So he starts training right off the bat on Wednesday after signing the paperwork? If not do they provide lodging and meals?

He starts training as soon as the drug test comes back. But I think because of the holidays… it’s the 8th of January. There is no need for lodging. He will be in the truck with the trainer. A list was provided for what he needs to arrive with.

It’s going okay, my driver trainer and I️ are headed to Virginia then Baltimore then to Wisconsin. Also I️ wasn’t made aware, but when you get training from Windy Hill they lock you into a year contract & it’s $2500 to buy out the contract. Idk why I️ didn’t pay attention to that. But oh well. Besides that everything is good so far.

Apologies for the delayed reply; I just saw your message. This is my first time driving in snow, and it's quite challenging lol. Currently stuck in Wisconsin since Friday due to icy roads. My last day of training was on Friday, and I was supposed to go to their main office for a one-day orientation, pick up my truck, and head back to Florida for a few days with my daughter. Unfortunately, the blizzard has delayed our plans. Hoping to head there today and finally get my truck.
