Saw one of you guys (JBS) looking for a washout in hotLanta by Moreland Av, asked if it was one of you from here and he acted like I was crazy sooooo.... Didn't get truck number though... oh well... Hope he found his washout!!!

You have to love when you have one pallet and it takes 2 hrs to get a dock....

    Be safe all!!!

just a personal choice at this point. but mostly due to the few tanker companies i have been with since 2009 paid very very low. and the problem i have is with tankers is i know what im worth, and these past 2 companies paid very badly. one of the companies was QC and the other was kuhnle bros. if i can find the right company then i will go back to tankers. these tanker companies that pay badly need to know its not a cheap expense to maintain a cdl a with hazmat, twic, passport and what not. if i could get a job like what you have then i would be back on tankers. and right now im using this time to learn how to deal with reefers, i have come to find out that dealing with reefers is hell. between detention times and deal with shippers and receivers, reefers is hell

Well don't go to IRT as Giant said they just pay you to drive. You don't get paid for tank wash, detention, and you can't get layover pay till you have set 48 hrs.

Wake up Tanker man. This is not 2005 if IRT can get 500 drivers to work over there. With those crappy benefits. Then most companies can get starving drivers to work for about anything.

You knew or should of known JBS didn't give detention after 4 hrs in orientation. You should of left then. Why do people come over here then complain about truck speed, detention, truck color. Crying because you can't make money trying to get home to florida every 2weeks when the company is not even based out of florida. If you are not making money for the company don't expect them to bend over backwards for you. YOU WORK FOR THEM. They don't work for you.

If you want to make 60+ go to foodservice where you have to unload every thing on your truck. Or wait 10 years if you can get hired on a union company while working part time on dock until somebody quit or dies.

You have good weeks, and bad weeks. Go to any company u think u can make it with that has a page on this forum, and you will see everybody is having the same problem. Suck it up or man up. Fyi Good luck with finding employment in the first 3 months of the new year.

What tha hell u smokin grouchass!? Nobody likes sitting for 4 hrs (every day almost on short loads)with no pay, arseholes that get paid by the hour get paid to take breaks, etc etc. I think its reasonable(I'm a libertarian RON PAUL Man!)for trucking companies to at the least pay a driver more for their time,4 hrs detention b4 pay is to long-should be 1 hour!! Layover should be after 12 hrs(since you didn't work that day,not home and stuck somewhere u don't want to be) I would even go so far, since we have elogs,to get paid by the hour-how many dam people that work hourly would put up w/having to clock out every time they were not actually workin? Told to come to work don't punch in however for 4 hrs but sit over there off the clock and wait till we get ready for you! Even as a staunch libertarian that believes all companies that risk their $ etc can do whatever-its theirs- truck drivers get shafted on their pay more than any other american co other than the military(I'm an air force war veteran) this week alone I have worked over 20 hrs with no pay hell I work 20 to 28 hrs EVERY week minimum w/out pay! Its BULLLLLLLLSHINOLA!!!!! Well.... Sorry for ranting just tired and fed up with it all! Was told I have to work sunday my day off and reward for unloading, live loading at pilgrims unloading again all in the same day- day after day after day sometimes pullin 4 trls in 1 day now to have no day off-my lookin for new employment has went up a notch!

oh boy you need to wake up. i know what i was getting in too. but when your unemployed, some money is better then no money. but seriously you think giving someone 4 hours of your time is a good deal? after all when we start out day we cant stop our 14 hr clock so with that i believe if you arrive ontime if not early then you should be paid for your detention time. the company keeps saying how they want to become the number 1 reefer company. hows that going to happen when driver turn over is very high? im not whinning about hometime, color of truck, or the truck its self. all i can say is when i was on tankers you generally get paid for everything from your pre and post trip fueling and loading and unloading. hell i was even paid hourly to cross the border with canada. also in 2008 i was paid $18.00/hr when i was on the clock and was being paid .44/ mile,
and the company is still in business as i have a fellow driver still there and hes now making $22.00/hr while on the clock and getting .52 per mile.none of your time is done for free. just like the other guy here postedmaking 70k for a year and i did make a mistake it was in 2008 when i grossed 93k. so i know that you can make a decent living pulling tankers. and further more i always took my time off at home every weekend and still made great money in doing so. i can go on and on, but i will refrain.

Start your own company. You can pay the drivers what they think they are worth. Hey I'll be your first driver.

You might as well be complaining about the grass being brown in the winter time. Or the tree's that lose their leaves in the winter time. This is not forced labor. If you don't like it. Leave. Its not that hard.
