I thought I put down some info about JAT Fort Wayne since there isn't anything out there about this company.
I've been working for them for a few months. I've been driving a big truck since the mid 90's. There is The good The bad and The Ugly just like anywhere else. I'll mix them up let you decide.
The people working there are real nice. They will know you by name. They are a small company, dispatching under 150 trucks with reefer and vans at this point in time. Their equipment is a little older. Mostly Columbias, Volvos and some Cascadias. If you start over there don't expect to get into a newer truck even if you have 20 years under your belt. Most likely you'll end up in a Columbia. Their incentive is that they will absolutely get you home every week-end. And they will. They will run you as you wish. From my experience the freight is short. However, you'll still end up with a decent paycheck. They have 2 pay packages: 1 - 32 cents a mile and 15 dollars for every dock you hit.Or, 2 - 42 cent a mile straight. If you live in the Fort Wayne area and surroundings this is the company for you. You will understand why if you read below. There are no facilities for drivers. There isn't a driver's lounge, TV room or even a waiting room to get your truck fixed. This company is designed as if all the drivers are local and if a truck needs to get worked on , a driver can just leave it over the weekend. They do not require you to fuel anywhere specifically, but they do have a pump right in their yard. They never complain if you idle. They run old school on paper logs and also you have to write down the miles and get the fuel receipts like back in the day before all went electronic. Their paperwork is pretty intensive, serious work. You'll have to keep track of everything since they do pay HUB. They are not stingy with money and they won't nickle and dime you. The dispatchers are decent but they screw up more than anywhere else I've been. I'd say the freight is probably under 40% D&H , everything else you hit a lot of docks. They pay detention after 2 hours. However ! , if you have these short runs, say 2 a day and you hit 3 docks and one D&H and you sit in these docks for 2 hours each, you do the math on how much time you loose. Plus all the backups you run into etc, there goes your day. Dispatch will make typical assumptions such as " Oh OK so you're 240 miles away , then you are about 6 hours away." Drivers don't go to the bathroom , or eat, etc. That load picks up by noon and it's 8 o'clock now then you'll make it. Wrong. They do not ##### at all . I mean I haven't been with a company that didn't ##### about something. If you have a bad log they will just simply give it to you to review it. No #####in, and that's a real good thing. Maintaining the equipment is kind of a pain. Since they have no facilities for drivers to wait you'll have no desire to go there and get something fixed. There simply isn't a place for you to wait, not even a chair. I should mention that the shop is located about 1/2 mile away from the office. So if you don't have a car parked there you're screwed. They don't give a #### if you install inverters or put any appliances in the truck such as microwaves or mount flat screen TV's , or anythig else. The mechanics will install any size inverter for you at no charge ( your own inverter ). And they do a real good job.

Suspect Zero, LakeLife80 and nbetz2710 Thank this.
