Anyone on here a jack cooper lease operator? With the cdn dollar being so low looks like I'll have to travel south to chase the freight. Got an offer from Jack cooper to bring my truck on but don't know how their system works for owner ops.

Oh snap I'll explain more.
By cooper I mean allied who they bought out . I'm in western canada. They've always had lease ops running the long haul routes and this continued after the cooper buy out. The runs are pretty high revenue and the guys running them have been doing it for 15+ years.
Obviously I know with senority etc I don't expect to get my hands on one of those runs anytime soon unless it's a relief or something, but they're offering runs going to the USA ( alot of rattling home )
It wasn't a publicized job posting I just was really unhappy with the carrier I'm with now because they don't compensate for empty miles and since the shift in the dollar loaded seems to be the new empty.
Just looking to see what it's like to be a teamster when you own your own equipment. -
If it's anything like when Allied had owner operators it should be great. I wasn't an owner op when I was at Allied before Cooper bought us, but worked with many that were and that was truly the good old days for the owner ops. I am fairly certain that the Canadian Cooper drivers now pickup loads in the Detroit area going back in to Canada, but could be wrong.
skinnytrucker and skinnyb01 Thank this. -
Yup. I'm a little far from Detroit but sounds like Kansas denver and salt lake are gonna be possible for me. I'm not pro or anti union and never worked for a union shop. None of the guys I know at cooper are running south so it's hard to get an honest answer about revenue and loads etc.
Besides revenue I think the HOS will be the biggest change for me. Don't know what I'll do with all that spare time I'll have. -
Kansas City( Claycomo ) makes the F-150, transit connect and Fairfax which is KC area makes Chevy cars. Not sure if they ship to Canada, but they may. You probably will be happy as a Teamster owner operator! Just my opinion.

Just my 2 cents worth. I knew quite a few owner operators that were with Ryder/Commercial Carriers when Allied bought Ryder. They all appeared to be doing well. They stayed with it so it must have been good. Of course they all cried that they made no money, but show me an owner operator that doesn't cry poorhouse.
