The state of Mass will be sending me for training for a CDL license. One of the schools is J&J in New Bedford. He seems like a nice enough guy but I know nothing about them. The other possibility is Parkers in Avon Mass. Does anyone know anything about J & J ????

Well, I have no experience with either, but I looked at the websites for both.
Mass. has no PTDI endorsed schools. (that would have been a good pointer for where to go.)
the one in Avon, is a 120 hour course. I couldn't find the hours for J & J. 120 seems a bit short. I'm under the impression, that companies like 160 hour courses. But, I'm in the midwest, and that could be a regional thing.
Wherever you go, please bear in mind, that no one is going to teach you to be a truck driver. They will teach you to pass the test for your CDL. You may glean some wisdom from the instructors, but, by-and-large, they teach the test.
It appears, that J & J teaches you how to drive in a light-duty day-cab tractor, and a 28 foot trailer. And, I'm a little worried about anyone teaching people how to drive in a vehicle that's half the size of what they're likely to be driving on the road.
Conversely, Parkers appears to be a light-duty day-cab, with a full sized trailer.
J&J either does the testing for that area, or state testers use their lot for it, their site is unclear.
In conclusion, I'd like to repeat, I really don't know anything, about anything. These are just random, critical thoughts, while people who know more, and better flit about the forum. -

Thanks for you input. I'm hearing J&J gets the overflow when Parker's classed are full. (Hearsay). I'm signed up for Parkers next class so pretty happy about that. Thanks again.

i went to j@j my experience with them was awsome jhon was my instructor he was a layed back guy! no b/s with him he teaches you how to get it done!!. never went to school just took the lessons 75 hr. took about 7 classes and took the test passed first shot!! i'd recomend them all day long just for the fact that theres no dilidalying with them the second you walk in the door you learing how to pass the test!!!
-
i went there too john is awsome phil is cool too, but gyayo is right they focus solely on the test, and john is a veteran driver with more than 20 years of experiance not a random ### teacher who never drove a rig before, he wouldnt stick you on a 27 foot trailer with out having a reason, its harder to back with a 27 footer that a 53 footer, john has great advice, im defintely happy i went to that school, i reccomend it to anyone
