Just bought a 2016 with an isx15. Noticed the high pressure fuel pump is leaking some oil up by the gear up front. My question is, do I need to pin the pump before I pull it back enough to get new gasket in? Or can I pull it back and the gear won't move and mark it that way? Thank you.

The HP fuel pump is not timed. Just pull it off and replace the gasket.

Maybe I didn't mean the high pressure fuel pump. Maybe just the fuel pump itself where it has the big gear that goes up front. I still dont need to lock the pump at all. Just slide it back and mark it just in case it moves at all?

Neither fuel pump is timed. No marking needed. Take it apart and replace the seals and gaskets as needed to fix your oil leaks.

why does Cummins sell a tool to time the pump? I just put a high pres pump on mine as well the shop told me to use their timing tool. Just asking so dont jack me up for it

It is always best to follow service info on QSOL for exact direction. X15 does required lash set up for the idler gear to HP fuel pump.little cat 500 Thanks this.
