Think it died. Friday the 13th lol.
It stuck on all day Friday. 500 miles or so.
Saturday stuck on about 5 miles into the day for about 200 miles, then would pop on off at unusual times.
Outside temp on these days was upper 20's, windy as hell.
Today warmer, didn't come on once. Even at about 210 water temp. Or when I used the jakes. Nothing.
I thought it was supposed to lock on when it died?
Got about 1000 miles to go, gonna go at night when it's cold, wanna get it home.
Any suggestions?

I know there’s some way to check the fan clutch to see if it’s free spinning... but I couldn’t tell you the exact procedure
Good luckDave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Show us what clutch you have. Disconnect the air to the clutch(easiest to do at the solenoid). If the fan blade is not locked and spins easily by hand it has failed or linings are worn out on the clutch.
If the clutch checks good pnematically applied and released suspect solenoid or a control issue. Brorg Warner clutches usually spin free when clutch is worn out. Horton will usually leak air before the clutch fails completely.Dave_in_AZ and HopeOverMope Thank this. -
Solenoid is NC, and when told puts air to clutch thus disengaging it correct?
The wires going to that connector are taught as piano strings.
I'm on a tight run, and can't afford to F this up.
So if I can make it up hills tonight gonna limp her home.
Have tools as well.
Lemme see if spins. -
I truly suspect sensor or wiring.Goodysnap Thanks this. -
Temp sensor?
I replaced the hi limit sensor on the AC line about 6 months ago also.Last edited: Apr 15, 2018

Would a passive regen cause any of this?

I agree you have a wiring or control side issue. Pull test the wires close to the connectors at the fan solenoid and the fan cycle switch and also look for pin spreading at the terminals. Trace the wiring back from the control solenoid and look for rubs or shorts at zip ties or mounting locations, especially on the engine.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Going through some big truck towns, might see if someone can replace this solenoid.
I hate to go down the path of all new wiring, sensors, fan clutch, might as well in frame it while we're at it, at a strange shop. -
If I pulled the control plug from the selonoid it would stay engaged though right?
That's what I'm going to try to get me home if I have too when it gets hilly.Goodysnap Thanks this.
