Hello everyone,
I am a new tanker driver, Has anyone ever picked up a ISO box. And if so are they usually overweight? I was dispatched to north jersey to go pick up my first one going to Newport News Virginia. I get loaded and scale out well beyond 80 thousand. So off it comes and back down the road to wait for another load. I was curious to see if anyone enjoys hauling them or are they more a pain in the *** than anything. Dispatch says you can make decent money running them due to the long hauls we are starting to do hauling these things.
They offered me a position running strictly ISO’s right now I pull everything. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I do them every so often, When we're slow on the tanker side or our iso division is extra busy. I get elected to help out the iso, Because I don't Bi+ch enough. lol
Can't stand pulling iso, They are always heavy but I never been over gross with one yet.
They are extremely top heavy worse than a regular tank.
Often when pulling these and your get moving down the highway you'll feel the liquid start rocking and rolling and it don't stop, Just keeps pushing and pulling all day long.
When I do these iso its always a load out of our yard and empty back, I refuse to do any rail yard or container yard work.Just passing by and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
+1 on ISO’s suck. We used to use them for delivery through the hills of PA and WV. Very top heavy. When I got into the office I changed that real quick. We have nice tankers now.
Here’s some brand new chassis in La Porte, TX. Well, they were brand new.wis bang, Orange713 and slim shady Thank this. -
And BTW, that La Porte yard is a hole!!!!
Yard jockey flying through like it was smooth concrete. Glad it was a one time trip. -
Wow...thanks for the reply’s, it was my first time pulling one. Even though I didn’t get to far due to the weight I am not running overweight sorry.
I could definitely tell it was a rat race in and out of the storage yard with a ton of chassis waiting to get loaded and offloaded it was definitely tricky to maneuver around everything and not get hit by the forklifts or other drivers that are impatient.
Like I mentioned before we don’t do a ton of the iso work but the boss is really hoping to take on more than we have been. So I was just reaching out and I thank you for the response
I might have to reconsider after that pic @JoeyJunk lolJoeyJunk Thanks this. -
I’m sure, like always, stupidity twisted those chassis. Just like anything else, use your head and proper driving skills and it’s not too bad.

We pulled them sometimes. Fuel mileage went int the crapper with the way the tank set way back on those racks. Felt like you were pulling a house.
Just passing by Thanks this. -

I pull them everyday and don't mind it but I guess its like anything else you get use to after awhile. Some of those Dana chassis are spring ride and beat you up pretty good especially this time of year.

I pulled them for almost 1.5 years. They have their ups & downs. They ride horrible and it's like pulling a parachute behind you. Yes they are often overweight and top heavy. Just remember to take the on/off ramps under the posted speed. With that all said, there is good money to be made in ISO work.
Orange713, Just passing by and slim shady Thank this.
