In my briefcase, I carry with me a mini stapler to put my logs and DVIR's together.
I simply will staple a hangy-thingy, if ever I have to.
But in all seriousness, I let it dangle, screw it.
isit illegal to leave trailer crank down?

Wait a second. It's illegal to have the crank handle just hanging there? I've always hated the phrase, 'you learn something new every day'. But gosh darn, I just learned that.

Every now and then you see one laying in or along the road. I wonder what guys do when they go to drop the trailer and it is gone?

I could not say for sure. BUT, it has always seemed to me that it should be "secured". It would be easy for a hanging handle to break the bolt and fly off. It could cause a lot of damage and even result in someone dying. It is our job to Safely transport freight and maintain our equipment. Take a bungee and secure it to the landing gear, until it can be repaired.
It may not be illegal, I don't really know. But securing it IS the right thing to do regardless!Last edited: Mar 12, 2015
