Forgive me if this is the wrong section to post this in. I was fired from my last job due to flat tire violations, first time I have ever been fired from any job in my life. But I'm having a hard time finding a new job after applying to 100+ jobs. I had one recruiter call me, from a well respected small company, but said that the company insurance policy won't hire me due to an accident. I have one accident on my record from bumping into a truck while backing. Really stupid decision I know, I was using a spotter who randomly disappeared from my sight. I practically developed PTSD from the whole ordeal.
My question is: is the market really bad right now or is it just me? I find it difficult to believe that my trucking career is over just because of flat tire violations and one accident.
Total experience: 20 months, 6mo at first company, 14mo at second.
Location: Las Vegas.
There are very few companies here in Vegas, for my first company I was working out of inland empire and second company was in SLC. I've applied to Knight which is located here in town, filled out the driver pulse stuff, but never received a phone call from them and I can't find a way to get in contact with a recruiter. I applied to a bunch of local jobs as well but they require 2yrs experience so I understand why I get rejected from those. I've even applied to yard dog positions but for some reason even they won't give me a call back. I've tried following up with a lot of companies that I've applied to but I get the same response every time: we received your application and we'll give you a call. But I never get a call back. Any advice? I've been out of work for 2 months already and my family is getting frustrated with me.
Is the job market slow right now? I'm struggling to find a job.

Carriers are generally very picky right now.
It's a tough CDL job market -- even for experienced drivers with clean safety records.
Why? Too many trucks (& drivers) chasing too little freight.
When the overall market will turn & rebound....is anyone's guess.
Your best bet in the short term...is to apply with "second chance" carriers (if you haven't, already):
- Western Express
- May Trucking
- National Carriers

Submit the applications before calling. This way, when you do call, the companies will already have your basic information on file.

I have been applying to countless companies since May and have had no job offers during my 2 months of applying and even interviewing with multiple companies. The big thing I am noticing is that companies always tell me that they have to check with their insurance before they can hire me and then that's it, no job offer follows.
I've got over 2 years of recent experience, a clean MVR & DAC, experience with van, reefer, tanker, and flatbed. I have recruiters contacting me every single week and talking me up. For health reasons I cannot continue in my current position much longer and I will probably need to get something going by the end of this month or next.
