Researching companies, to my surprise, I’ve found a few megas that pay $1500-2000+ week for dedicated and regional runs in a specific area I will be relocating to. This is even as a rookie driver. Sounds good, but it brings a dilemma.

My ultimate goal is to go owner op. Having all of my endorsements, my long term plan was to get into tankers/hazmat. These megas have local/dedicated/regional tanker positions in the area, BUT they pay less than the dry van positions. Dry van ranges between $1800-2200, but for the tanker it’s closer to $1500/week.

Will the lower pay be worth it in the long term to get the tanker/hazmat experience?

It depends on the area and the material. Some areas have too many tanker companies/trucks and pay isn't great. Some areas are starving for enough tankers and pay is great. HazMat and Tanker don't ALWAYS pay more EVERYWHERE. Location, location, location.
