That name sure has been around for many a year. (school buses, Greyhound, trash trucks). Is this company tied in with them, do you know?

Aren't they based in Ontario Canada?

Try google. Laidlaw Carriers. They are the guys we see, and they have a yard in Woodstock Ontario. -
Danny before you go any further you should sit down and make a list of what you want and don't want. Have your better have there if you have one. Set some goals for like 1 year, 5years, and so on. Look at the benefits that support your family. Do they have a good medical and dental plan that you can afford. Make sure it's not an HMO. That's my opinion.
You want a good safe company to work for so check their ratings on Safestat with the FMCSA. Ask the drivers that work for that company and get an idea there. It's good you came here but always beware of all the answers. For example my first dispatcher told me ALL truck drivers lie. So you have to do some analyzing. A driver could screw up really bad and blame the company and he wouldn't be giving a clear assessment of the company. Ask alot of questions. I like this one " How many drivers retire from this company"? If it's going to be a company that can not keep drivers then stay away. You want real professionals that will help you and good operating trucks. You can look around the yard if you can get there. Is it clear or is there trash everywhere? Check where the mechanics work. Is it clear or is there parts and trash everywhere.
On your goals list have good questions that you'll want to ask if you get an interview. Take the list with you. Ask these guys on these boards that have many years OTR what they would ask when looking for a new company. I know there's been listings before so you might want to do a little research. This job will be your life if hired. You have all the rights in the world to ask questions. If they do not want to take the time to answer your question then that should be a bad mark right then.
Here's one step that I feel is one of the most important step you can take. If it's possible you should go out to their terminal. Do not ask critical questions over the phone. You gain so much knowledge when you can see. Good luck and never stop doing researchHitman Thanks this. -
