I know this question can be answered by google but I would like to hear if truckers have done so

I am NJ resident but want to incorporate trucking company in Nevada or Delaware. Delaware is just 150 miles away so this seems to be a real option. Is it really good decision and will it save taxes at all? Will I be still required to pay NJ taxes? also which state is best to get insurance on truck, I am renting apartment in NJ and it is easy for me to move if it really makes sense to move

trucko, if you incorporate then operate your truck in or through New Jersey they have a corporate receipts tax, so you will pay all you business/income taxes thru your Delaware corp plus pay the state of New Jersey a percentage of your revenue. You are better off not being incorporated if you run in or through NJ on a regular basis. This NJ corporate receipts tax only applies to corporations not LLC or sole proprietorship.

You can incorporate in any state you like, NV has gotten popular but DE is still king for that. However you'll still be in NJ so you can't completely run away from NJ's crap. You still need to be a NJ business, you'll just be incorporated in DE. Within NJ you'll be a foreign corp which I'm sure will cost you by itself. If you buy trailers Maine is the state for registration as I'm sure you've seen on the road EVERYBODY registers trailers in ME.

You can't register anything in my state NH unless you live here and have 3 forms of proof. You also can't get a P.O. box either unless you can prove you live here.

Instead of asking on here and getting incorrect answers call the IRP office in the state and ask the question.

I have heard that New York offers sales tax waiver for those who buy brand new truck. If i buy truck in NY and register in Maine, will I have to pay sales tax in maine anyway?

Not the truck. The trailer because it's cheap and they allow it.

Cheaper than registering cars in most states, and ME doesn't care where your business is.
