Is Hwy 83 Colorado Springs to Denver a good alternate to I-25?

Just noticed it on the map. Are there any advantages to it? I was wondering if it avoided the higher elevations of Monument and Castle Rock and maybe if it was less windy.

Lots of lights, lots of traffic, lots of hills, lots of curves, lots of subdivisions, lots of cars, etc. Get it?

Yep. I took it it. Like you said, a lot of curves and it was still windy in spots(I was empty). Maybe not as windy as I-25 would have been. I didn't really think the traffic was too bad in the middle of the day. Rush hour would probably be a different story. It's a good alternate route if there's a major wreck on I-25.
