I was recently watching a YouTube video, (yeah with that YouTube again,) and I saw a driver say that he didn't graduate High School. He claimed that he made above $50k a year and was home 2/3 days a week. Pretty good if there is any truth to his claim.
So my question is, is there a requirement for a High School Diploma or a GED?
I got a friend who is still in High School, but he will not be able to graduate, since he needs 100 Credits and needs to pass his Math CAHSEE. I told him to get his GED, but he insist that he won't be able to pass it, because he struggles with even the Basic Math.
I'm just asking, because maybe I could help my friend get started in trucking along with me.
Is High School Diploma or GED required?

If your friend is still in high school, that means he is 18? I don't think many trucking companies will hire him until he is 23. There might be exceptions with different carriers. No matter what make sure your friend gets that diploma it is extremely important.

I've never heard of a trucking company that asks to see a high school diploma or GED. Some guy posted he was asked one time, but I'm doubtful. It's not important for truck driving. I've known many drivers that were high school dropouts and on the applications they check "yes" they graduated. Just figure out when you should have graduated and use that date as the graduation date. Google and buy a fake diploma online. My cousin didn't attend even one day of college, but landed an upper management job in a textile mill by saying he graduated from college and had a diploma to back it up. He retired from the mill years later.

Another thing, wouldn't this come up when they do your background check? -

Tell him to work in a warehouse, maybe receiving/shipping. Then he can save up, get his CDL and apply to Companies when he is 23-24. I say receiving/shipping because it has kinda given me a perspective on how things work on the other side.
