Just to be certain, you are not talking about Central Refrigerated are you? Central Transport has green trucks and are dry van. Central runs reefers. Central is the common one that is talked about on this website.

No..central transport ltl company...they have yellow trucks
chompi Thanks this. -
If you need a job and want to get a start in the LTL side then take it to get the experience, but dont plan on staying there long. Central is one of the lowest of the ltl companys and most dont plan on making a career at central.
Rerun8963 Thanks this. -
Oh yeah, forgot about the yellow trucks too!

please STAY AWAY from those skank bags....
they will make you work for next to nothing. i do believe you will be paid on a 1099......because i do know of 2 former drivers that warned me not to go there. the dock workers also get paid by the trailer i do believe, so many times they will over load you. the benefits package may still be from "Cherokee" insurance, which is lousy.
Central Transport (yes, the yellow trucks) will DAC you for the smallest of all things. this I KNOW from personal experience.
STAY AWAY from that company.

Hmm well i got an interview for them monday out at Hillside illinois and tomarrow I'll be going to there terminal in Aurora to check it out.
I was at Roehl for 3 months and now I have worked at 7up for 2 weeks. But 7up just informed me that they dont have a route for me to run because they over hired so they just made me a merchandiser (only $11 at 40 hours) which is only $22,000 a year and i can't live on that. i just got all my endorsements including hazmat to open up more options and what is attractive to me about Central Transport is that i barely have more then 3 months experience and i'm getting an interview from them..
It's a P&D position that pays $17 an hour.. The recruiter told me i'd make about $48,000 a year ( so i figure $35,000 since all these companies lie about pay ) I'd like to be Linehaul but i was told that Hillside wants 6 months exp for that and Aurora wants 1 year.
So hopefully i get the job. the only negative is that if i do take this job its something im gonna have to force myself to keep for atleast 1 year if i dont like it. I had great work history before i got my cdl with a 4 year stint at menards and 3 year stint at a park district. But now i my work history includes somewhere i only was at for 3 months and now somewhere for 2 weeks..
So unless if Central will rape you beyond belief all take the job.. i cant pay rent, health insurance, car insurance, my phone, my car payment, and food on only $22,000 a year.. my break even point is like 26 or $27,000.. So if anyone can tell me some really good reasons not to work there i need to know now!! will i be paid for all my hours? will they make you drive past your 14? will i atleast make $27,000? -
metalifreak10 i also have this thread in report bad trucking companies there are more

another thing metalifreak 10 if u get the job please keep me posted

They are the bottom of the barrel in my opinion. They operate a terminal beside my regular work location. The drivers that quit or get fired by my company go to work for 2 or three other companies, usually in the same order. When they quit or get fired from those companies they work for Central Transport until they quit. In my experience it's a throroughly despicable place to work. They know the drivers coming to them have no other options and take advantage of that knowledge.
