When the basics can be learned in four to six weeks, it is "semi-skilled labor".

Well, it is skilled labor. But not classified as such by the government, for many reasons. Most if which actually help us.
Some of which do not, like us not being covered by the fair wages and standards act, and overtime laws.

It's a trade , but anybody could learn this skill with enough patience. If you want a respected trade, you should become a pipe welder with a 6g certification

oh yes -its considered a skill trade- even u can deduct what u spend in truck driving school in your taxes
