I need to treat a couple of trailers and was wondering what's the best treatment?
Some trailers have apatong decks, some oak and some pine.
Iv heard boiled linseed oil is supposed to be good on most types of wood decks but can take a long time to dry in, while leaving a sticky surface.
Has anyone mixed linseed with varnish or thinners etc to get a good result? Is there a top pick for a varnish any of you really like?
Is boiled Linseed Oil the best treatment for wood decks?

I use spent motor oil on a hot day in July (if you can get some from the barrel a shop uses to drain oil and fuel filters, the lower viscosity from the fuel is just gravy). Brush it on and it soaks right in over 100*F. Two good, liberal coats a year will do. My boards stopped warping and cracking, and I could pull out nails that had been broken off and stuck for years with my bare hands.

2 parts boiled linseed oil to one part turpentine or mineral spirits. Very good preservative/treatment. Raw linseed oil doesn't dry well/fast, but boiled soaks in and drys. Can you even buy oil base products out there on the left coast?

I use the same stuff I use on my log house, Olympic honey gold stain and waterproofing sealer, Thompson's brand works well also dries fairly quickly. comes in different colors or clear

Ok, so got a few trailers coated in straight Boiled Linseed Oil today, didn't mix it with anything as the wood was so dry but the freshest apatong deck I have I'm a little hesitant to just put Boiled Linseed Oil even mixed on it. Reason being, the BLO will soften the wood which might be bad as the Apatong being so hard is one of its best attributes. Maybe the Olympic varnish might be better? One bad thing about the BLO is it doesn't give any protection to UV rays from the sun. Not sure if I could put a coat of BLO on it to soak in and then later treat it with varnish?
Anyone done that before?
Thanks for the replies. -

Cool deal. I do a couple things that top lift on and off that I pick up from a coating company. Idk that it'd make a real impact just want to make sure I give er enough time so they don't pick off n cry lol
thanks for the idea, I'll try that next oil change
