I am thinking of driving to Pennsylvania (from Maryland) where they allow third-party testing because Maryland does not allow third-party testing (and I don't know why when people can simply drive to another state that allows it, pass the test there, and Maryland MVA will be forced to accept the test results if passed).

If anyone used a third-party tester, would you mind sharing if it's better to go with a third-party tester such as a school or company, or does it make no difference with DMV? I know the test is still the same with third parties, but on the bright side, third parties are quicker to make an appointment because I can only imagine DMV has tons of applicants applying so this may mean you have to wait a little longer than usual.

I know two men that are now retired that did state testing. Both have told me they were tough but fair. In all honesty, I would be more concerned about being 100% ready to test regardless of who is doing it. One of these men told me the last thing they told the applicant was show me you know how to drive this vehicle and you will have no problems with me. I do think right now with all this covid insanity you might get a test quicker with a 3rd party tester!

I don't think it makes any difference and would not spend any time worrying about it.

    you are over thinking this.

the testing is done "by the book".

you need to practice before test day.

there are no guarantee's or certainties, that you will pass a 3rd party test, any more than the state's DMV site.

my state, they only test permitted drivers from my state. they do not allow people from all over to come here and test.

and if YOUR state takes a while longer for you to take the test?

then that gives you MORE time to practice, before test day.

You never know. The first 3 rd party tester failed me by 1 “ point”
due something questionable. Blew his top, and shouted “ This is what I have to deal with now”!! Lol. Then he tried to sell Me his $3000 School Training. The Guy was a real class A jerk know it all, spent a good 20 minutes telling Me I can’t make any money Trucking, and complaining about his Drivers. Red Flag!! The second tester at a different facility, was a Professional, passed me with flying colors. Then offered me a job after I get 6 mos experience.

Where I am, it’s all done by third parties, and all of them have CDL schools. If you go to their schools, you never fail the exam.
